In an unexpected turn of events at UFC Vegas 108, Chris Duncan emerged victorious in a brutal, three-round lightweight bout against his former team-mate, Mateusz Rebecki. The fight, marked by heavy striking and visible damage on both fighters' faces, was one of the biggest upsets of the night.

Duncan, who extended his professional MMA record to 14-2, suffered cuts and bleeding, including a deep gash below his left eye and a bloodied cheek by the final bell. Rebecki, on the other hand, faced significant swelling and heavy bleeding around his right eye, which ballooned shut, severely impairing his vision. The Polish fighter's right eye became incredibly swollen during the fight and he was hardly able to see out of it by the final round.

The fight was a gruelling display of power, with numerous heavy elbows, punches, and clinch exchanges. Rebecki, despite his impaired vision, continued to press forward and trade power shots until the final bell. Duncan, however, landed effective strikes throughout, including a step-in elbow and a head kick, gradually gaining control and inflicting visible damage.

Rebecki, who trained with Duncan at American Top Team, found it difficult to face him as a rival. He revealed that seeing Duncan train motivated him to push harder. Dustin Poirier, a recently retired UFC star, praised the fight, calling it a "WAR".

The judges scored the fight 29-28, 29-28, 30-27 in Duncan's favour, securing him the unanimous decision victory. Despite the severe injuries sustained by both fighters, they were transported to a hospital post-fight for further evaluation.

Meanwhile, another shocking incident occurred at UFC Abu Dhabi, where Mohammad Yahya suffered a horrifying eye injury. The extent of the injury was so severe that his eye swelled to the size of a tennis ball. In a separate fight, Steven Nguyen broke the record for the most knockdowns in a single UFC fight, knocking down Mohammad Yahya six times, surpassing the previous record held jointly by Jeremy Stephens and Forrest Petz.

Both Duncan and Rebecki left the octagon disfigured, bloody, and bruised, a testament to the intense battle they fought. As the dust settles, the MMA community eagerly awaits their recovery and their next fights.

Mateusz Rebecki, a former team-mate of Chris Duncan, faced significant challenges in their lightweight bout due to mixed-martial-arts techniques such as heavy elbows and punches, which led to a swollen right eye that severely impaired his vision. Meanwhile, Chris Duncan, who extended his MMA record, showcased his skills in sports like mixed-martial-arts during the fight.
