In an unexpected turn of events, Munich witnessed a chaotic scene on Sunday, as a car plowed into a crowd during a labor union rally, leading to a massive emergency response. Over ten patrols were required to handle this shocking incident of criminality. The car crash, which injured at least 28 people, including children, left the city reeling.

The incident took place at a Verdi trade union rally, and the suspected perpetrator is a 24-year-old Afghan man with a history of prior offenses, such as shoplifting and narcotics violations. The police have launched a thorough investigation, with the Bavarian Central Office for Combating Extremism and Terrorism (ZET) taking the lead due to indications of an extremist background.

The perpetrator was known to the authorities and was residing in the Munich district of Solln, from where the car was driven into the crowd. The exact charges against the suspect have not been disclosed yet, as the investigation is still ongoing.
