A 12-year-old girl in Stralsund has been praised for her quick actions after helping a lost three-year-old boy just days before Christmas. Police recognised her bravery and invited her to an official ceremony at the local station.
The incident took place on 16 December 2025 near Heinrich-Heine-Ring. The girl spotted the toddler wandering alone and immediately called emergency services. Instead of leaving, she stayed with the child until officers arrived.
She then helped coordinate a meeting point, ensuring the boy was safely reunited with his family. Rainer Dittschlag, head of Stralsund’s police precinct, described her actions as extraordinary. On 22 December 2025, the girl was formally honoured at the police headquarters. Dittschlag presented her with an award in recognition of her calm and responsible behaviour.
The ceremony highlighted the importance of quick thinking in emergencies. The girl’s actions ensured the child’s safety and prevented a potentially dangerous situation. Police have encouraged others to follow her example in looking out for vulnerable members of the community.
