Braunschweig's April cultural wave: Art, music and career fairs collide
Braunschweig is set to host a series of cultural and professional events this April. From art exhibitions and live music to career fairs, the city offers a diverse programme for residents and visitors. One highlight is the return of internationally recognised artist Lothar Osterburg, whose works feature in major collections worldwide. The Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum will showcase Cabinet of Wonders: Lothar Osterburg Returns from Brooklyn from April 24 to August 30. Osterburg, a graduate of Braunschweig University of Art (HBK), later taught at prestigious US institutions like Pratt Institute, Columbia University, and Cooper Union. His art is held in collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Library of Congress, and other leading museums.
Earlier in the month, the Montagehalle at HBK Braunschweig will host the *Cusanuswerk 2026 Applicant Exhibition* from April 7 to 9. This event features works curated by scholarship applicants. Music lovers can attend an organ concert by internationally acclaimed artist Jonathan Scott at St. Aegidien Church on April 19. The performance is organised in collaboration with the Organ Society. Meanwhile, photographer Jörg Scheibe presents *Days of Lower Saxony: Musical Moments* at the Braunschweig City Library from April 22 to June 27. On April 25, the city centre will come alive with the Honky Tonk festival, offering a day of live music. That same weekend, the *beruf & bildung* Career Fair takes place at Volkswagen Halle on April 25 and 26, providing opportunities for job seekers and professionals.
