American Cyclist Brandon McNulty Wins Tour de Pologne and Dedicates Victory to Filippo Baroncini

In a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 Tour de Pologne, American cyclist Brandon McNulty clinched a historic victory, marking his first overall WorldTour stage race win and the first for a US rider on the 97-year-old race's podium.

McNulty, who has been a teammate of Rafal Majka for six years, considered one of the best teammates to have around, dominated the final time trial stage in Wieliczka. He set the fastest time at the midway check by a massive 18 seconds, securing his place at the top of the leaderboard.

The Tour de Pologne win is McNulty's second victory of the year, following his success in another race. The American cyclist dedicated his win to Filippo Baroncini, his fellow competitor who suffered a high-speed crash during the race and is currently in a stable but serious condition in a hospital in Wroclaw, Poland.

Baroncini sustained multiple facial fractures, vertebral fractures, and a broken clavicle in the accident. He was placed in an induced coma as a precaution to aid his recovery. As of August 10, 2025, Baroncini was repatriated to Italy where he is set to undergo surgery on his facial injuries at Milan’s Niguarda Hospital while still in an induced coma. His vital signs remain stable, and though his vertebral fractures may or may not require surgery, specialists will assess this further.

McNulty's performance in the Tour de Pologne has not gone unnoticed, with his team already considering his potential in future Grand Tours after his impressive showing in the Giro d'Italia. The American cyclist lost only four seconds to Paul Lapeira in the crucial first steep uphill finish in Karpacz on stage 2, and gained a significant advantage on his rivals, except for Victor Langellotti, on stage 6.

Meanwhile, Rafal Majka, who completed his last-ever home race in the Tour de Pologne, received massive cheers from the crowds. McNulty paid tribute to Majka in the race, calling him one of the best teammates to have around.

The Tour de Pologne win is a landmark victory for McNulty and for the USA, and serves as a testament to his talent and determination. As he continues to grow and develop as a cyclist, McNulty's future in the sport looks bright.

However, his success was dedicated to his fellow competitor, Filippo Baroncini, who is currently recovering from a high-speed crash during the same race.
