Kelly Clarkson Mourns Private Loss Amidst Professional Struggles
Pop superstar Kelly Clarkson is currently navigating a difficult period, following the passing of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, and the finalization of their messy divorce.
Brandon, who was 48, lost his battle with skin cancer in August 2021. His death occurred just hours after Kelly announced the postponement of her August concerts. Brandon and Kelly were married from 2013 to 2020 and share two children, River Rose and Remington Alexander.
In the years leading up to his death, Brandon was in a relationship with Brittney Marie Jones, who worked as Kelly's production assistant in Nashville from 2016 to 2018. Brittney and Brandon lived together at his Montana ranch and built a life together, creating companies and establishing the Headwaters Livestock Auction and The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.
Brittney continued to assist manage Kelly's day-to-day artist schedule even after transitioning to work for Brandon. In June 2020, she became an executive assistant for Brandon's Montana ranch, V Bar B Cattle Co. Brittney and Brandon were together at the time of his death.
Kelly has always tried to keep things classy regarding her relationship with Brandon, even during the messy divorce that was finalized in 2022. Despite the difficult circumstances, she remained positive for the sake of their children. As of yet, Kelly has not publicly addressed Brandon's death.
Brittney's father, Larry Jones, emotionally tributed Brandon, describing him as his "daughter's soulmate" and "considered him [a] son." Brandon had been battling cancer for more than three years before his death.
The legal battle surrounding the divorce centered around a financial dispute from Kelly's time being managed by Brandon under his family's talent agency. The details of the settlement have not been disclosed.
