Brandon Blackstock, Talent Manager and Ex-Husband of Kelly Clarkson, Passes Away at 48
Brandon Blackstock, a prominent talent manager in the music industry and the former husband of singer Kelly Clarkson, has passed away at the age of 48 following a battle with cancer.
Blackstock began his career in talent management in 2006 at Starstruck Management Group, the firm founded by his father Narvel Blackstock. He quickly rose through the ranks, managing notable country artists such as Blake Shelton and Rascal Flatts. In 2017, he took over managing Clarkson’s career from his father.
During their marriage, Blackstock also acted as executive producer on The Kelly Clarkson Show. His management style was recognised for his strategic industry insight and ability to nurture talent, earning him respect in the music business.
Blackstock and Clarkson finalised their divorce in 2022, and as part of the settlement, Clarkson made a one-time payment of $1.3 million. She also pays $115,000 in monthly spousal support to Blackstock until January 31, 2024. The couple shares two children, River (born in 2014) and Remington (born in 2016).
Reba McEntire, who was married to Narvel Blackstock for 26 years before splitting in 2015, commented on being supportive of both Blackstock and Clarkson amid their divorce in 2021. McEntire also expressed her love for both of them and encouraged others to support them during their difficult time.
Kelly Clarkson announced a pause in her Las Vegas residency the day before due to Blackstock's health. The news was confirmed by a representative for the Blackstock family on Thursday, and they have asked for privacy during this difficult time.
