Brandenburgers spend more than Berliners - Brandenburg Residents Outspend Berliners on Groceries and Housing in 2022

A recent report by the Amt für Statistik Berlin-Brandenburg reveals that residents of Brandenburg spent more on average than their counterparts in Berlin in 2022.

Brandenburgers allocated €2,669 per month to private consumption, compared to Berliners' €2,450. This difference was largely driven by grocery spending, with Brandenburgers spending €399 per month, €33 more than Berliners. Housing costs also varied significantly, with Brandenburg residents paying €913 per month, €82 more than Berliners, who paid €831.

The Office for Statistics Berlin-Brandenburg is the authority responsible for collecting and publishing these figures.

In summary, while Berlin households spent more on private consumption overall, Brandenburg residents spent more on groceries and housing, leading to a higher average monthly expenditure.
