Brandenburg's CDU Leaders Line Up for Elections

The executive committee of Brandenburg's CDU has rolled out a proposal for the party's state list ahead of the upcoming elections. The top spot goes to the party leader, Jan Redmann, with Kristy Augustin, a prominent state parliament member, and Gordon Hoffmann, the general secretary, following suit.

The proposal, announced on Friday evening, also includes Rainer Genilke, the state's economics minister, and Steeven Bretz, the parliamentary secretary of the CDU parliamentary group, in fourth and fifth places respectively. Saskia Ludwig and Frank Bommert, both right-wing members of the state parliament, will claim sixth and seventh places on the list.

Adeline Awemo, a member of the advisory board for integration and migration based in Cottbus, is slated for 20th place on the list. She will challenge the AfD member, Lars Schieske, as the CDU's direct candidate in the Cottbus-Süd constituency during the state elections.

André Schaller, the CDU parliamentary group's spokesperson for local politics, and Björn Lakenmacher, the spokesperson for home affairs, have been relegated to 25th and 27th places on the list.

The parties' state lists are crucial in determining the order of candidates entering the state parliament alongside the directly elected MPs, based on the party's share of the second vote. The CDU's state list is up for a decision on December 8 at a state representatives' meeting in Potsdam. The Executive Board has also proposed Christian Ehler, a long-time Brandenburg MEP, for the first spot in the proposed list for the European elections in 2024.

The Brandenburg CDU's executive committee has taken the step of securing Jan Redmann's position as the top candidate for the state list and considering Christian Ehler as the first choice for the European elections in 2024. However, the specific details about the exact placement of all candidates and the upcoming election's dynamics need to be sought from official CDU party lists or other credible sources.
