Golf's Modern Boom Among the Youngsters
Brand Capitalizing on Golfing Trend: Captain Morgan Offers Popular Drinks and Apparel
Get a load of the new golf wave sweeping across the landscape! 🏌️♂️🌊
Five years ago, golf was one of the only ways to escape the house during lockdown. But with social distancing and the hunger for outdoor activities, this age-old sport saw a renaissance—especially among the younger lot. 🌟
Justin Faiber, Captain Morgan Sliced's brand director, caught the shifting winds on the greens.
"When it comes to sports and brand marketing, the barrier to entry for golf has changed dramatically. I think we as a brand want to lean into that, and it's something I've seen firsthand," Faiber shared with FOX Business. 💡
As golf gained traction among beginners and pros alike, it steered a fashion revolution a la streetwear and lifestyle wear. From clubs to clothes, the golf-lifestyle took center stage.
"You no longer need to dress up or look like you stepped off a green to play golf. It's all about the golf-meets-streetwear-meets-everyday-wear vibe, and that's where we're seeing the stigma of golf eroding," noted Faiber. 👕
Captain Morgan Sliced enthusiastically rode the wave this new wave of young golfers.🍹🏌️♂️
"With COVID, people craving to get out in the sun, and golf being super accessible, has given us a unique perspective. As a casual golfer, it's not only suited and booted at our brand but it's more about tapping into variety and different ways people are playing the game," Faiber said.
Faiber also credited the pro game for adapting to the times—from flashy outfits like Jason Day's to tournaments like LIV and the Ryder Cup, which broke free from tradition and drew massive fervent crowds. 🏔️
"For us as a brand, we're growing, and it was a partnership we felt would be strong for us," Faiber added. 🤝
Recently, Faiber and Captain Morgan debuted the Play the Slice campaign, which encourages golfers to embrace their imperfect tee shots—dubbing them the essence of golf's charm! "There's no wrong way to enjoy a Captain Morgan Sliced," they say. 🌳
Faiber also announced a merchandise partnership with Pluto Golf, blending golf wear with streetwear.
"We've teamed up with Pluto Golf to create a capsule collection, from shoes to hats, jackets to outdoorwear, everything you need to look fly on and off the course," Faiber revealed. 🛍️
