BPOLI LUD: Fine and expenses covered, arrest warrant lifted
In an unusual turn of events, a 38-year-old Romanian man found himself in the hands of the German authorities yesterday evening. The incident occurred on the A4 Highway in Görlitz, where the man entered Germany.
The man had previously been issued an arrest warrant by the Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office due to a case of forgery of evidence. He had also failed to comply with a court order to pay a fine imposed by the Dippoldiswalde Local Court.
Upon entering Germany, the Federal Police gave the man a choice: pay up or face immediate arrest. The man chose not to pay the fine and was taken into custody.
The arrest was carried out by the Bundespolizei Inspection Ludwigsdorf, and the man was detained due to the case of forgery of evidence and failure to comply with a court order to pay a fine.
However, the situation took a different turn when the man transferred 1,581.00 euros to settle the fine and court costs. With the transfer of funds, the arrest warrant was lifted, and the man was released.
