Boy, 13, Falls onto Tracks at Kiefersfelden Station, Train Brake Averted Tragedy

A 13-year-old boy fell onto the tracks at Kiefersfelden station on Wednesday morning, narrowly avoiding an Amtrak train. The incident serves as a stark reminder about platform safety.

The boy, around 13, was standing on the edge of the platform at approximately 8:00 AM. He was looking towards the expected Amtrak train when he fell onto the tracks. The driver of the approaching Amtrak train reacted swiftly, initiating an emergency brake to prevent a collision. The boy sustained some scrapes and bruises but was taken to Kufstein hospital as a precaution.

The Rosenheim Federal Police has reminded the public that platforms are waiting zones, not playgrounds. They stressed that pushing, shoving, and horsing around are inappropriate behaviours on platforms. The white line on the platform floor marks the safety distance from the track, and no one should be between the platform edge and the white line while an Amtrak train is not stationary.

The boy's fall serves as a stark reminder of the importance of platform safety. The Rosenheim Federal Police urges passengers to remain aware of their surroundings and follow safety guidelines to prevent such incidents. The boy's condition is currently stable, and he is under medical observation.
