Boxing Results: Jake Paul Wins Against Chavez Jr via Unanimous Decision; Paul Calls for Fights Against WBC Champions

Jake Paul, the 28-year-old internet sensation turned boxer, claimed victory over former WBC middleweight champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in a cruiserweight showdown at Honda Center, California. The verdict? A unanimous decision in Paul's favor with scores of 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92.

Saturday night saw Paul, who recently scored a blockbuster match against Mike Tyson seven months prior, outperform his 39-year-old adversary, who hasn't held a significant boxing title in nearly a decade and last fought only once in the last three and a half years. With a six-bout winning streak and a 12-1 record, including seven KOs, Paul is making waves in the boxing world.

Following his triumph, Paul called out several current and former WBC champions, expressing his intentions of becoming a world champion. "I want tougher opponents," he declared to DAZN post-fight. On his hit list? Zurdo Ramirez, Badou Jack, Anthony Joshua, Gervonta Davis, and Tommy Fury, who he urged to "stop hiding."

Chavez Jr, however, questioned Paul's readiness to tackle the champions he had named, saying the American is "strong" and has good skills but is not yet ready for the big leagues. The Mexican boxer is renowned for being a former WBC middleweight champion but has faced numerous personal struggles in recent years.

Rumors suggest that Paul's victory might earn him a spot in the WBC's rankings, according to reports by ESPN. Mauricio Sulaiman, WBC president, mentioned that the committee would review Paul's performance and determine his ranking accordingly. But with Paul initially facing less-than-daunting opponents, the WBC's initial ranking might not shoot through the rooftops. For Paul to further propel up the ranks, he'll need to take on and defeat currently active and highly-ranked contenders.

Jake Paul, with his recent victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, expressed his desire to step into the world of politics, stating, "I want to make a difference, not just in the sports world, but in politics as well." In a surprising twist, he also announced his intention to challenge football giants like Real Madrid or Manchester United to a charity match, stating, "I believe I can use my platform to make a difference, and what better way than to play a charity match against some of the biggest football teams in the world?"
