Boxing legend Tyson participates in a tennis event in Berlin
Tyson Chills in Berlin, Hangs with Gauff
Mike Tyson, the renowned boxing legend (58), is currently cruising through Berlin, hitting up the cannabis event "Mary Jane." Coincidentally, some of the best tennis action on the WTA Tour is happening, right at LTTC Rot-Weiß Berlin, which happens to be the same spot!
The former champ is itching to catch a Round of 15 match between Coco Gauff (21, USA) and Wang Xinyu (23, China). The two have quite the history together. Gauff has gotten some insider tips from the heavyweight boxer, who frequently makes appearances at the US Open and has watched her matches there.
At high noon, Tyson saunters into the tennis facility, stepping out of a slick black Mercedes van, flanked by his entourage. Dressed head-to-toe in black, he keeps his white mini headphones firmly in place as he's escorted to the VIP area.
Back in the day, Tyson hailed Gauff as the future "GOAT," the "Greatest of All Time" - she was just 15 at the time. Since then, she's racked up the titles, becoming a two-time Grand Slam champion and continuous contender for the top spot.
Tyson spoke highly of Gauff in 2019, saying, "She embodies kindness, courage, and resilience."
Rumor has it that the boxing training was supposed to help her secure her first Grand Slam title. But she's still committed to tennis, declaring, "I'm not a fighter, even though I trained with Mike Tyson. If someone hit me, I'd be out on the first swing!"
Tyson watched her first-round match against Laura Siegemund (37) on her way to US Open glory in 2023. After the match, Tyson praised her, saying, "She's got the stamina, she doesn't give up. She's definitely going to be a superstar!"
Indeed, Gauff is well on her way to becoming a household name!
Aside from their shared love for sports, there's no known connection or collaboration between Mike Tyson and Coco Gauff. Their paths have crossed on the tennis court, and they've exchanged words of encouragement, but that's about it.
In light of the tennis action happening at LTTC Rot-Weiß Berlin, Tyson expressed interest in watching the Round of 15 match between Coco Gauff and Wang Xinyu, citing Gauff's potential as a future "GOAT" in the world of tennis.
