In a thrilling interim title fight last month, German boxer Abass Baraou secured the World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight title in Orlando, USA. Baraou defeated undefeated Cuban Yoenis Tellez after twelve rounds and a unanimous points decision by the judges.

The victory marks a significant milestone in Baraou's career, as he becomes the new WBA super welterweight champion. The confirmation of his full championship status was based on a letter from the WBA, and a spokesperson for Wasserman Boxing confirmed the news.

Despite the celebratory moment, Baraou has not made any special plans to mark his new status. He continues to commute between Oberhausen and Berlin, focusing on his training and preparing for his next title defense.

The WBA super welterweight championship is a temporary solution when a boxer cannot defend the actual world title for various reasons. The details of Baraou's first title defense are yet to be determined by the WBA, but the specific opponent has not yet been announced.

Terence Crawford, the previous WBA super welterweight champion, has switched weight classes, leaving the door open for Baraou to challenge for the undisputed title in the future.

Baraou's interim title win was not against the current full WBA super welterweight champion, but the fight was still a significant achievement in his career. The interim WBA super welterweight title fight took place in Orlando, USA, and was decided over twelve rounds.

The new champion expressed his happiness about being promoted to full world champion in a statement to Deutsche Presse-Agentur. Baraou's next celebration will be after his next title defense, as he continues to make a name for himself in the world of boxing.
