Box Office Earnings for "Coolie" Day 7: Slowing Down Yet Approaching Rs 250 Crore in India, Earns Additional Rs...
In the world of Indian cinema, two major releases have been making waves recently - the Tamil action thriller, "Coolie," starring the legendary Rajinikanth, and the sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe, "War 2."
"Coolie," directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has become the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year, despite underperforming at the box office. The film, which also stars Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan, with Aamir Khan in a cameo appearance, received mixed to positive reviews from audiences and critics. Praise was given for the performances, music, and action sequences, but criticism was directed at the film's writing and second half.
The film was released in cinemas worldwide on August 14 and, in its first six days, earned Rs 216 crore net in India and Rs 418 crore gross worldwide. On its seventh day, "Coolie" added Rs 6.50 crore net in India, bringing its seven-day domestic net collections to Rs 222.50 crore.
Meanwhile, "War 2," starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has crossed Rs 300 crore globally in the first five days and has just crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in India. The two films clashed at the box office, with "Coolie" proving to be a formidable competitor.
The success of "Coolie" at the box office will depend on its performance in the second weekend. It is worth noting that the film has already made history, becoming the third highest-grossing Indian film of the year, following "Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava" and "Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda-starrer Saiyaara."
As for the OTT release of "Coolie," no updates or leaks have been reported as of yet. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting film and its journey in the world of entertainment.
