Bournemouth versus Manchester United: Updated Team News, Anticipated Lineup, and Injury Updates
Man Utd Battling Injuries as Unstable Season Continues
England's Premier League heavyweights Manchester United face a challenging trip to AFC Bournemouth on Sunday, aiming to halt a dismal run of form that has left them reeling just four games away from the close of the season.
The Red Devils, languishing in 14th place within the league, have endured a lengthy winless streak, succumbing to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Wolves in their most recent outing at Old Trafford.
United's hopes of salvaging their disappointing campaign hang on their pursuit of the Europa League trophy, with the upcoming semi-final clash against Athletic Bilbao on the horizon. Nevertheless, before that mouthwatering encounter, they must tackle a resilient Bournemouth side vying for European qualification for the first time in the club's history.
Bournemouth, sitting comfortably in eighth position, have equalled their highest-ever Premier League points tally and will be determined to stamp their mark on the competition.
Injuries have plagued United's squad, with the likes of Lisandro Martinez (knee), Joshua Zirkzee (thigh), and Matthijs de Ligt (ankle/foot) ruled out of the south coast clash. Amad Diallo, Ayden Heaven, and Diogo Dalot (calf injury) may also be sidelined for the European fixture. There is uncertainty surrounding Luke Shaw's availability as he was left out of the squad against Wolves, while concerns linger over Dalot's training status.
On a more positive note, United youngster Toby Collyer could make his comeback from a leg injury, and veteran defender Jonny Evans is reportedly ready for selection.
With Athletic Bilbao looming, Amorim may opt to rest some players for the Bournemouth game. A number of academy prospects, including Elyh Harrison, Dermott Mee, Jaydan Kamason, Tyler Fredricson, Dan Gore, Zachary Baumann, and Chido Obi, took part in training on Wednesday, hinting that they may feature in the squad.
Amorim's decision to continue fielding Rasmus Hojlund despite the striker's struggles in front of goal has been met with widespread speculation.
Bournemouth are eager to claim a league double over United, having thrashed them 3-0 at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture back in December. The Cherries' recent form has been less than inspiring, with just one victory across the last eight Premier League matches. Last time out they managing a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, though they did secure a narrow 1-0 home victory against Fulham on April 14.
Despite missing Ryan Christie and Enes Unal due to injury, Luis Sinisterra may return from a thigh problem for the encounter against United.
Kick-off time and TV Channel:The match kicks off at 2pm on Sunday, April 27. The game will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League in the United Kingdom.
