Boulder League Final Holds in Wuppertal, Germany
Prepare for an adrenaline-pumped weekend as the 1st League semi-finals kick off! The men's battle royale begins at 16:30, followed by the women's electrifying matches at 20:30. Medals will be up for grabs from Saturday, starting at 20:30 onwards.
Among the contenders are an array of seasoned athletes, including Jan Hojer, Olympian and defending champion of last season. Not to be outshone, World Cup participants such as Roxana Wienand and Julia Koch, as well as national team athletes like Elias Arriagada Kruger and Lasse von Freier are also geared up to dominate.
Joining the fray is some fresh blood too, such as 14-year-old Sophie from Wuppertal, along with other talented athletes from the region who have earned their spots.
Since 2016, the "Techniker Boulder Bundesliga" has been priming Germany's bouldering scene, with athletes categorized into three leagues based on their skill level. Throughout the season, points can be collected from 13 stations in the best bouldering halls across Germany, with participation being free of charge.
Top performers from each league advance to the season's finale, with the top 20 from the 1st League qualifying for the semi-finals in interval mode. The six strongest athletes from the semi-finals will then lock horns in three final boulders using the IFSC World Cup format for the coveted spots on the podium.
Alas, the elite 20 competitors of this year's 1st League semi-finals remain shrouded in mystery, as current results lack comprehensive athlete listings or outcomes. To get the lowdown on who'll be giving it their all this season, keep an eye on the official Techniker Boulder Bundesliga website, climbing federation announcements, or reputable sports news outlets. Stay tuned for more updates!
