Botswana Gambling Authority Donates 1,200 Litres of IV Fluid to Princess Marina Hospital
Princess Marina Hospital in Botswana has received a donation of 1,200 litres of IV fluid from the Botswana Gambling Authority Social Club. The contribution aims to ease ongoing shortages in the country's social security system. Hospital officials and the authority's representatives formally handed over the supplies this week.
The donation was officiated by Acting CEO Moruntshi Kemorwale and Social Club Chairman Tumelo Batshu. Hospital staff, including Dr. Tshepo Machacha, the Hospital Superintendent, accepted the supplies on behalf of the facility.
Princess Marina Hospital serves a population of around 2.3 to 2.5 million people. Like many general hospitals in Botswana, it faces persistent challenges, including limited medical supplies and understaffing. The IV fluids will help ensure patients receive timely treatment while supporting frontline workers.
During the handover, Dr. Machacha emphasised the importance of proactive health choices. He urged the public to adopt healthier lifestyles to reduce pressure on the social security system.
The initiative reflects the Botswana Gambling Authority's commitment to social responsibility. By mobilising resources, the team demonstrated how grassroots efforts can strengthen national social security infrastructure. The donation aligns with the authority's broader mission to promote community well-being.
The 1,200 litres of IV fluid will directly assist patients and medical staff at Princess Marina Hospital. This contribution highlights the role of corporate social responsibility in addressing critical gaps in Botswana's social security system. The hospital can now provide essential treatments more efficiently.
