Boston Braces for First Major Snowfall After Years of Mild Winters

Massachusetts has seen a slow start to the snow season, with only a light dusting in Worcester and no measurable snow in Boston. Forecasters now predict the first significant widespread snowfall could arrive on Tuesday, bringing a mix of rain and wet snow across much of the state.

The last time Boston experienced a major snowfall of six inches or more was nearly four years ago. Recent winters have been relatively mild, with only slightly above-average snow totals and no major storms.

The approaching storm will bring the first notable snowfall of the season, though it won’t be extreme. Central and western areas are most likely to see significant accumulation, while coastal regions face a messy mix. This system sets the stage for what forecasters expect to be a snowier winter ahead.
