Bosjan Noč assumes the role as the initial president of the European Beekeeping Association

The European Beekeeping Association (EBA), based in Slovenia, held its Electroal Assembly today, resulting in several new appointments to the Executive and Supervisory Boards.

Boštjan Noč from Slovenia was elected as the new president of the EBA, receiving 100% of the votes from the delegates present. Noč, who previously promoted the beekeeping innovation 'BeeConn' at an association event, expressed his gratitude for the trust shown in him during the election. He also emphasised the need for active and unified action across Europe for the benefit of bees, beekeepers, and consumers.

In addition to Noč, several other individuals were elected to the Executive Board, including Stefan Spiegl (Germany), Jorge Spiteri (Malta), Rodoljub Zivadinovic (Serbia), and Tetyana Vasilkivska (Ukraine). The Supervisory Board welcomed new members Ellmann Torsten (Germany), Mende Trajkovski (North Macedonia), and Juozas Olekas (Lithuania).

Boštjan Noč also announced the formation of a scientific (expert) committee for the area of quality and safety of bee products. This committee will include experts from different fields and different areas of Europe.

The EBA represents 234,461 beekeepers across 18 member beekeeping organizations from 15 European countries. The assembly marked the addition of two new member organizations on the day of the event.

It is worth noting that the EBA has expressed support for Dr. Peter Kozmus from Slovenia as a candidate for Vice President of Apimondia, an international beekeeping body, but this is a separate election and not directly related to the EBA presidency.

For more detailed information about the plans, activities, and policies of the new EBA leadership, it is recommended to consult the EBA’s official channels.

The newly elected EBA president, Boštjan Noč, emphasized the importance of active and unified action in policy-and-legislation regarding bees, beekeepers, and consumers across Europe. The formation of a scientific committee under his leadership will aim to ensure the quality and safety of bee products. This emphasis on politics and general-news topics continues as the EBA represents its members in discussions with various European bodies, like the international beekeeping body Apimondia.
