Borussia Monchengladbach beginning training without Neuhaus - his future remains ambiguous

In the world of football, Borussia Mönchengladbach is grappling with an uncertain future for one of its top earners, Florian Neuhaus. The midfielder, who pockets a reported €4 million annually, has found himself in hot water following a controversial incident that has strained his relationship with club management.

Recent events have seen Neuhaus suspended from first-team training for four weeks and fined heavily, reportedly around €100,000, after a video surfaced in which he appeared to mock Sporting Director Roland Virkus, labelling him "the worst manager in the world" and criticising his role in Neuhaus's salary. This behaviour, according to CEO Stefan Stegemann, has been deemed damaging to the club and incompatible with its values, causing significant disappointment within the organisation.

Neuhaus's form and limited impact last season, where he made just 17 league appearances and was often a substitute, had already sparked speculation about his long-term role at the club. As of early July 2025, Neuhaus was noticeably absent from the club’s pre-season training squad, further fuelling uncertainty about his future at Mönchengladbach.

Meanwhile, the team is preparing for its first test match on the way to the training camp at Tegernsee, set to take place on July 18 against FC Erzgebirge Aue. Despite Neuhaus's situation, the squad is bolstered by the presence of two new signings, Jens Castrop and Kevin Diks, who were both present at training.

Unfortunately, the recovery of Tim Kleindienst, who is still recuperating from a meniscus operation, is progressing slowly. Sporting Director Roland Virkus has predicted an ideal return for Kleindienst in November. On the other hand, Nathan Ngoumou, who is out due to an Achilles tendon rupture, remains sidelined.

As the suspense surrounding Neuhaus's future continues, one thing is certain: Borussia Mönchengladbach's management and fans are eagerly waiting for the conclusion of his suspension period to gain a clearer picture of the midfielder's role in the club moving forward.

Despite Neuhaus's suspension, Borussia Mönchengladbach is gearing up for the upcoming season with European-leagues football on the horizon. The team's preparations include two new signings, Jens Castrop and Kevin Diks, but the future of midfielder Florian Neuhaus, who has been absent from pre-season training, remains uncertain due to his controversial behaviour and strained relationship with club management.
