Heister's leadership has been instrumental in Düsseldorf's success. He has guided the team to three trebles, winning the domestic league, cup, and Champions League in the same season. His exceptional coaching skills have earned him the respect of club manager Andreas Preuß, who made extending Heister's contract a top priority.
Heister takes over from table tennis legend Timo Boll, who retired at the end of the 2021-22 season. Despite the loss of such a prominent figure, Heister remains confident in the team's prospects. He expressed his happiness about continuing to work for 'the best club in the world'.
