Borussia Dortmund edges closer to a triumphant conclusion: a 4-0 victory over Wolfsburg
A STEP TONEWARDS EUROPE:
With a 4:0 win against VfL Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund seems to be on the verge of turning their turbulent season around. Niko Kovac's squad has now recorded three consecutive victories, momentarily climbing to fourth place in the Bundesliga. BVB fans are once again dreaming of European cup action, something that seemed too far-fetched just a few weeks ago.**
Even if Dortmund slips back to fifth place after the 32nd matchday, should Freiburg win against Leverkusen on Sunday, this would mark their best position since the 12th matchday. Striker Serhou Guirassy (3rd minute/59th) and substitute Karim Adeyemi (69th/73rd) each notched a brace, extending their unbeaten streak to six games.
Alas, Wolfsburg remains winless in their eighth consecutive game. Their last win was over two months ago, and with only two points during that time, coach Ralph Hasenhüttl's squad can breathe a sigh of relief knowing they're not in danger of relegation. Under Kovac, Wolfsburg has never experienced such a long losing streak.
However, the game's statistics failed to tell the whole story. Dortmund didn't play like a Champions League team for much of the match, while Wolfsburg didn't exhibit the signs of a completelyhapless, unsuccessful team. It wasn't until the final stages that the visitors crumbled.**

A swift goal kickstarted the uninspired BVB. Yet, it was somewhat of a lucky break. Only because Julian Brandt's pass slipped under his foot did Guirassy find himself free in front of the Wolfsburg goal after 180 seconds, and he finished decisively.
Despite the 4:0 win, Dortmund struggled to generate ideas for much of the match. Wolfsburg played with confidence but lacked the crucial final touch, especially with top scorer Mohamed Amoura not starting. Following a training dispute with Joakim Maehle, the Algerian was initially only on the bench.
WEG
The match dried out after the early goal, with little happening until halftime. Even after the break, Dortmund's play seemed surprisingly devoid of ideas, given the opportunities presented by their rivals' mistakes.

BVB WINS, BUT STILL ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
The game's second goal from Guirassy, beautifully set up by Pascal Groß, was a classy moment. It was Guirassy's 12th goal in the second half of the season, more than any other Bundesliga player.
The tension eased for Dortmund as Wolfsburg faded, and substitute Adeyemi sealed the win with two goals in four minutes - perhaps a bit too comfortable in the end.
Wolfsburg continues to struggle, remaining winless in their eighth consecutive game. Under current BVB coach Kovac, Wolfsburg has never had such a long losing streak.
However, the match's statistics did not tell the whole story. Dortmund did not play like a Champions League team for much of the game, while Wolfsburg did not play like a completelyhapless, unsuccessful team. It was only in the final stages that the visitors collapsed.
For the BVB , the dream scenario involves maintaining their impressive form and capitalizing on any opportunities that arise in their final matches to secure a top-four finish and Champions League qualification. But, with two vital games left, they must remain focused to attain their goal.**
- Despite their recent win against VfL Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund still needs to maintain their impressive form to secure a top-four finish in the Bundesliga and qualify for the Champions League.
- BVB fans are especially dreaming of European cup action, as their position in the Bundesliga is the best they've had since the 12th matchday.
- Unfortunately, Wolfsburg remains winless in their eighth consecutive game, with their last win over two months ago. Under Kovac, Wolfsburg has never experienced such a long losing streak.
- Even though Wolfsburg's statistics don't show it, they did not play like a completely hapless, unsuccessful team against Dortmund and only crumbled in the final stages of the match.
- If Freiburg wins against Leverkusen on Sunday, Dortmund could slip back to fifth place after the 32nd matchday, but this would still mark their best position since the 12th matchday.
