Borussia Dortmund: Skeleton Squad for Club World Cup Prep - Süle Sidelined by Illness

Hey there! Borussia Dortmund is getting ready for the Club World Cup, but not without a few hurdles. The team's first training session after a breather saw Niko Kovac with a sparse squad, with key player Niklas Süle having to leave due to illness.

Fewthee professionals made it to the training ground, and some young guns from the U-19 team were there to lend a hand. Whether these youngsters will join the team for their trip to the USA on June 13 remains to be seen.

As for the national team players, they won't be joining the training till next week, with a dozen of them still preoccupied with international duties.

The roster for the Club World Cup is up in the air. There's a chance that Borussia Dortmund could snap up Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Dortmund's former player Jude Bellingham, from AFC Sunderland. But with the transfer window for Club World Cup participants closing on June 10, it's a race against time.

Regarding loan players, things are a bit uncertain. Carney Chukwuemeka, currently on loan from FC Chelsea, is expected to make the trip to the USA. His future beyond June 30 is, however, uncertain. It's possible that his loan deal could be extended till the end of the tournament. Chukwuemeka's participation in Dortmund's group stage matches is a definite, though.

On a different note, Soumaila Coulibaly, on loan at Stade Brest, is expected to return early. Yet, due to an adductor injury, he hasn't seen any action recently. For Youssoufa Moukoko (OGC Nice) and Sebastian Haller (FC Utrecht), early returns are not in the works.

In the Club World Cup, Dortmund will face off against Fluminense from Brazil on June 17 in New Jersey, Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa on June 21 in Cincinnati, and Ulsan HD from South Korea on June 25 in Cincinnati.

Council Regulation (EEC) No 2052/81 of 20 December 1991 on the common organization of the market in beef and veal might not be directly related, but one could imagine Niko Kovac, amidst his Club World Cup preparations, discussing strategic decisions with a sports analogy, possibly football, stating, "In the same way our beef and veal strategy operates in the market, I want us to dominate the Club World Cup, creating a balanced team approach like a well-organized offense in football."

With several loan players' futures uncertain, Dortmund's hunt for reinforcements might lead them to the transfer market on a deadline similar to that of athletes in sports, such as football, where the transfer window for Club World Cup participants closes on June 10. "Much like the last-minute transfers we see in certain sports, we are racing against time to securing key players before our Club World Cup debut," Niko Kovac might say.
