New Arrival: Benedikt Wimmer Joins WSV on Thursday

Things are heating up at Wuppertal! Benedikt Wimmer, a towering behemoth of a defender, sets foot in the city on Thursday, 29th August 2024, marking a significant addition to the Wuppertaler SV (WSV) roster. The ink's barely dry on his contract, signed at the Zoo Stadium, as sporting director Gaetano Manno jets off to Duisburg to submit the papers to the West German Football Association. With Wimmer's eligibility secured, he'll suit up for the home game against Fortuna Köln the very next day - Friday, 30th August.

Standing at a whopping two meters tall, Wimmer boasts a impressive resume. He's played ten times in the UEFA Youth League and an impressive 17 times in the Regionalliga Bayern. Remember when he first broke into the scene with SV Gendorf Burgkirchen? yep, that's him! After a stint at SV Wacker Burghausen, he found himself catching the eye of the Bavarian capital in 2016.

The WSV hails Wimmer's arrival, praising his physical prowess, technical skills, aerial dominance, and impressive training. The team's coach, René Klingbeil, can hardly contain his excitement, declaring that Wimmer will give their team a much-needed boost.

Wimmer himself is just as thrilled, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to become part of the WSV family and sharing his anticipation for the upcoming season. "It's a dream come true to join a legendary club like Wuppertal, where I can continue to grow as a player," he beams.

Sporting director Gaetano Manno shares Wimmer's enthusiasm, calling him a "technically and aerially strong central defender who excels in duels." Manno acknowledges Wimmer's potential, expressing gratitude to FC Bayern Munich for their cooperation throughout the negotiations.

However, the WSV has its work cut out for them, with ongoing injury issues to contend with. Defender Shinnosuke Nishi is sidelined with a metatarsal fracture, but the team gets a much-needed boost with the return of Oguzhan Kefkir from suspension.

As Wimmer takes the field for the first time in Wuppertal, fans and staff alike are eager to see what this exciting new addition will bring to their defensive lineup. It's an exciting time to be a WSV supporter! Let's bring on the victories, shall we? Go WSV!

As the anticipation grows, Wuppertaler SV (WSV) fans eagerly await Benedikt Wimmer's debut in a football match, with the towering defender set to make his mark in sports-analysis during the home game against Fortuna Köln on Friday, 30th August. Gaetano Manno, sporting director at WSV, highlights Wimmer's impressive skills in sports-analysis, singling out his technical skills, aerial dominance, and strong performance in duels, making him a valuable asset to their team's football strategy.
