In a significant development, former tennis player Boris Becker has emerged victorious in his defamation lawsuit against TV comedian Oliver Pocher. The verdict was handed down by the Higher Regional Court of Karlsruhe and has now become final.

The dispute arose from images from the RTL show "Pocher - dangerously honest." The controversial show, which had the slogan "Make Boris rich again," was at the centre of the legal battle.

According to the first instance, money was hidden in a supposed fashion prize awarded to Becker in the show. This allegation was a key point of contention in the lawsuit.

Neither Becker nor Pocher appeared in court during the proceedings. However, Becker's lawyer, Samy Hammad, considers the verdict as confirming their legal opinion.

Pocher was previously not allowed to further distribute controversial image sequences from the television report. Additionally, he was required to delete the relevant film clips from his own internet presence.

Initially, Pocher had intended to appeal the verdict to the Federal Court of Justice (BGH). However, his complaint against the non-admission has been rejected. This means that the legal avenues in this matter are now exhausted.

Pocher's lawyer, Patricia Cronemeyer, is discussing with her client whether to file a constitutional complaint. The Federal Court of Justice rejected Pocher's complaint on September 18, 2025.

The Federal Court of Justice is located in Karlsruhe, Germany, where Becker won the case in November 2023 at the Higher Regional Court.

Boris Becker, a three-time Wimbledon winner, is aged 57, while Oliver Pocher, the TV comedian at the centre of the dispute, is 47.

This legal battle has been a significant event in the media landscape of Germany, highlighting the importance of defamation laws and the consequences of making unfounded allegations in the public eye.
