Boris Becker facing imminent action, reveals Markus Lanz with a hint of ongoing endeavors
Boris Becker, the three-time Wimbledon champion, recently appeared on the ZDF talk show "Markus Lanz" on September 18. During the interview, Becker expressed his love for London and his frustration at not being able to visit the city he once called home.
Becker's deportation from Britain on December 15, 2022, has affected his ability to see his children living in London. The football clubs FC Bayern Munich and FC Chelsea, which were once close to his heart, were also topics of discussion on the show.
Markus Lanz, the host, asked Becker about not seeing Chelsea and Liverpool in England anymore due to his deportation. Becker stated that a return to England would be as a tourist or professionally, not as someone who wants to live in London. He shared that he felt at home in London for years before his imprisonment but acknowledged that a return as a permanent resident is ruled out.
Becker discussed his 231 days in prison on the show and openly talked about possible return plans. However, due to a ban on entry, he cannot currently see his children in London or attend football matches.
The processing of Becker's entry application is difficult due to constant changes in politics and the authorities. He is working with the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice on possible ways to regain entry, but the process is difficult and slow. Becker excludes living in London again and only considers visits for vacation or professional reasons.
The current episode featuring Boris Becker is available in the ZDF media library. In addition to discussing his deportation and potential return to Britain, Becker also shared insights into his successes, past, lessons learned, and future plans.
Despite the challenges, Becker's passion for college football was affected by his move to Michigan and subsequent deportation from Britain. His love for the city, however, remains undiminished, and he expressed his hope for a day when he can visit London once again.
