Bereaved Wife Praises Trump's Immigration Crackdown, Citing Personal Tragedy

Border enforcement by Trump may prevent families in Louisiana, such as the widow's, from being separated.

Olivia Hayes, who lost her husband in an accident involving an undocumented immigrant, shares her thoughts on President Donald Trump's immigration policies on "Fox & Friends".

Devastated by the death of her husband, allegedly caused by an unauthorized immigrant, Olivia Hayes speaks out in support of President Trump's tougher immigration stance, viewing it as a means to prevent similar tragedies from happening.

"The previous administration's disastrous policies left my family shattered, and nothing can bring my husband back," she said on the show. "But, in President Trump's first 100 days, his decisive actions will ensure our tragedy won't become someone else's misfortune."

Wesley Hayes lost his life in a drunk-driving crash in October at the hands of an unauthorized immigrant.

Sharing her thoughts with co-host Lawrence Jones, the Louisiana mother describes how she believes Trump's strategies are curtailing the crisis that skyrocketed under the current administration - continued construction of the border wall, negotiations with Mexico to ensure their leaders contribute to border security, and utilizing Tom Homan's expertise as border czar to enforce immigration laws and hold sanctuary cities accountable.

"Due to these actions, we've seen a 95% decrease in illegal border crossings," she said. "This statistic confirms that all we needed was a president who cared and a skilled border czar to safeguard the lives of innocent Americans from an influx of not just criminals but those ignoring American citizenship processes."

Immigration statistics from the White House and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reveal over 65,000 deported illegal immigrants and a drop in migrant encounters by 95%.

The president consistently lists this achievement among his administration's most significant accomplishments in his second term's first 100 days.

Allegations of these firm immigration policies creating family separations have circulated. Hayes responds to these arguments, asserting that if someone breaks the law - regardless of citizenship - they should expect to suffer the consequences.

"Whether that be expulsion or incarceration, they will be separated from their family, and the alternative to separating families from breaking the law is permanently separating families through unnecessary acts," she continued.

"Like my four-month-old daughter being deprived of a life with her father because the current administration enabled the individual who killed Wesley to remain in the country illegally. So... I'd question those who disagree with Trump's policies: if their loved one was killed by an unauthorized immigrant, wouldn't they agree that change is necessary?"
