Border Control Reintroduction Investigation Findings Disclosed by BPOLI Council
Border Controls Yield Multiple Arrests and Fines at German Crossings
In a series of border control operations, the Federal Police Inspectorate Chemnitz has detected several violations and made numerous arrests over the past two days.
At the Reitzenhain border crossing, a 45-year-old Bulgarian national was found to have a brass knuckle in his vehicle, which was seized. The case was handed over to the state police or the federal customs administration for further processing.
A 45-year-old Czech national, on the other hand, was found with a strong smell of cannabis, a joint, and a switchblade at the Oberwiesenthal border crossing. No details were provided about the nature of the several criminal offenses that were detected during the border controls.
In a separate incident, a 62-year-old Vietnamese national was found to have a valid Vietnamese passport and a valid Czech residence permit but was subject to an entry and residence ban in Germany until the end of August 2026 at the Oberwiesenthal border crossing. A report was filed, and the individual was returned to the Czech Republic following police processing.
A 44-year-old Dutch national was allowed to continue his journey after paying a fine for attempted smuggling of foreigners, totaling approximately 1600 euros, at the same border crossing in Oberwiesenthal.
At the same location, a 49-year-old Hungarian national had an arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Regensburg due to a risk of flight and was taken into custody.
In a unique case, a 37-year-old Bulgarian national is now facing charges of receiving stolen goods. At the border crossing in Reitzenhain, an E-scooter reported as stolen was found in the trunk of a VW Crafter he was a passenger in. The Bulgarian claimed ownership of the scooter, but the search results do not provide the name of the head of the Federal Police Inspectorate Chemnitz.
Meanwhile, a 37-year-old Romanian national was found with a warrant for a sentence issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Landshut for fraud, but was allowed to continue his journey after paying the fine.
Finally, a 47-year-old Czech national had an outstanding fine for violating the compulsory insurance law and was able to pay the fine on the spot to avoid being taken into custody.
These incidents highlight the ongoing efforts by the Federal Police Inspectorate Chemnitz to maintain border security and uphold the law.
