Border Control Operations in NRW: Federal Police Carry Out Warranted Arrests

On September 11, 2025, two individuals found themselves in the hands of the German Federal Police during a temporary reinstatement of border controls.

In the morning, a 48-year-old Romanian man was stopped while cycling on Enschede Street in Gronau. The man was wanted on a warrant for bodily harm issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Münster, branch office Bocholt.

Later in the day, a 34-year-old Moldovan man was stopped by the Federal Police at the Knauheide rest area on the A3 motorway. He was wanted on a warrant for a violation of the Residence Act issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Schweinfurt.

Both incidents were handled by the Federal Police Directorate Saint-Augustin and the Federal Police Inspectorate Kleve, located in Kleve, Germany.

The Moldovan man was driving a small truck and managed to avoid a 10-day prison sentence by paying an outstanding fine of 800 euros to the Federal Police. The Romanian man, on the other hand, was required to pay a fine of 880 euros or serve a 22-day prison sentence. Both men were able to settle their fines and were allowed to continue their journeys.
