Book Discussion Event titled "Book Talk in the Old Town" set to take place in Yakutsk
On August 9th, the historical heart of Yakutsk, known as the Old Town, will come alive with the vibrant energy of the "Book Rotation" festival. This celebration, organised by local book community activists and employees of the Yakutsk History Museum, unites readers, writers, poets, publishers, critics, editors, proofreaders, printing house workers, and bookstore employees.
During the festival, attendees can share and find books, with book stalls offering literature of various genres. New book releases will be presented, and authors will be available for book signings. For those who enjoy poetry, an "open microphone" at the Book Rotation in the Old Town festival allows residents and guests to read their favourite works or their own poems.
The cultural programme of the festival includes pop-rock, dance, lyrics, and favourite compositions, culminating in an immersive concert titled "Music of the City" by the project "Voice Inside". The Lisitca Band, featuring Alena Lisitsa and Kim Zaharov, will be a highlight of this concert.
For those with a competitive spirit, various literary competitions and quizzes will take place throughout the day. To encourage new readers, free reader's tickets and library registration will be available at the festival.
To add a touch of exclusivity, an exhibition of unique collectible copies will open at the festival. Book sales and author signings with writers will round off this literary extravaganza.
While World Book Lovers' Day is celebrated globally on an unspecified date, this year, Yakutsk's Old Town will be the epicentre of the literary world on August 9th. So, mark your calendars and join us for a day filled with books, music, and camaraderie in the heart of Yakutsk.
