Get ready for some unexpected changes in Kiel this Sunday! Over 1,350 residents will find themselves displaced from their homes and apartments as two WWII bombs are due to be diffused. The disturbing discoveries were made during survey work in the districts of Meimersdorf and Ellerbek-Wellingdorf, as reported by the police in the wee hours of the morning.

In Meimersdorf, around three dozen locals are faced with the inconvenience. They'll need to vacate their residences from the break of dawn until 8:00 AM, after which roadblocks will be enforced. It's essential for those commuting by train to or from one of the cruise ships in the Kiel harbor on Sunday to coordinate with their travel providers.

Residents who can't find temporary lodging during the bomb disposal team's operation can seek refuge at the Meimersdorf volunteer fire department on the village square from 7:00 AM. The American 250-kilogram bomb boasts two fuses and has been situated on an agricultural field. Given its condition, the bomb disposal team predicts a smooth operation.

Second Bomb

The operation on the second bomb in Ellerbek-Wellingdorf is scheduled for later in the day. The British 250-kilogram bomb was uncovered on a property close to the southern end of the Stadtrat-Hahn-Park. Professionals estimate a fluent procedure in this case as well.

In Ellerbek-Wellingdorf, a whopping 1,300 residents will need to evacuate their homes and any allotment gardens within the cordoned-off area by 12:00 PM. The Stadtrat-Hahn-Park will also be closed during the diffusing period. The federal highway B502 (Ostring) will remain unscathed. Thoses who can't secure alternative lodging can utilize the rooms at the Ellerbek school (Klausdorfer Weg 62-64) from 11:00 AM.

For those requiring help vacating their apartments, they can reach out to the Kiel professional fire brigade's service telephone at 0431-5905 555 for both diffusing operations. This number will be in service Friday and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and on Sunday from 7:00 AM.
