Bollywood actor Kapil Sharma's cafe in Surrey endures another nighttime shooting incident
Two shooting incidents at Kap's Cafe, a popular establishment owned by Bollywood star Kapil Sharma, have taken place within a month—on July 10 and August 7, 2025.
Surrey and Delta police are actively investigating these incidents, which appear connected. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in either event, but significant property damage occurred, including shattered windows and walls hit by multiple gunshots.
In the second shooting, a makeshift incendiary device was found at the scene, believed to have been brought by the suspect. The device resembled a Molotov cocktail.
Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke has called on the provincial government for additional resources to address the increased violence and strengthen public safety efforts. She emphasized that the attacks are a serious threat to the community's security, and while police are working diligently, more support is needed.
Police are exploring various motives for these incidents, including possible extortion or gang-related causes. Unverified social media posts claim responsibility by associates of the Bishnoi gang and threaten further violence, including potential operations in Mumbai, India. However, these claims remain unverified.
Both shootings were reportedly filmed by the attackers and posted online; however, police investigations have yet to yield conclusive leads. The Surrey Police Service Frontline Investigative Support (FLIS) Team is leading the case and has coordinated closely with Delta Police Department officers.
The public is being asked for any information, including dashcam footage, to aid the investigation.
In a separate incident, a U.S. man was arrested trying to illegally enter Canada by kayak. No further details about this incident have been released.
