Bolivian Athletes David Ninavia and Maya Quinteros to Represent Country at Junior Pan American Games
Young athletes David Ninavia and Maya Quinteros have been selected to represent Bolivia at the upcoming Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay. The games, which will take place from August 9 to 23, will award 216 classifications for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.
David Ninavia, a 22-year-old athlete, has made a name for himself in the world of athletics. He won a gold medal in the men's 5,000 meters race at the 2021 Junior Pan American Games in Cali. Additionally, he finished second in the 1,500 meters race at the Valledupar 2022 Bolivarian Games. Ninavia expressed his happiness at being designated flag bearer for the competition.
Quinteros, a trampoline gymnast, has also made her mark on the international stage. She won a gold medal at the Senior and Junior South American Trampoline Gymnastics Championships in San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina in 2023. She also won a silver medal at the Trampoline Pan American Championships in Monterrey, Mexico in the same year. Quinteros thanked for the support received and said that the athletes going to the Games will try to demonstrate that Bolivian youth is growing.
The Bolivian delegation to the Junior Pan American Games will consist of 55 athletes, with Ninavia and Quinteros being among them. The flag bearers for Bolivia at the games are Geovana Irusta and Gustavo Rodríguez. Irusta is a national tennis player who has represented Bolivia at international competitions, while Rodríguez is a judoka who has represented the country in judo events.
The leader of the Bolivian Olympic Committee (COB), Marco Arze, is committed to changing the reality of Bolivia's results in international competitions, with the aim of the country achieving its first Olympic medal. Arze highlighted that 42 of the 55 athletes participating in Asunción 2025 have qualified "by sporting right", which he considers an achievement.
