Some person stumbling upon an unusual sight decided to alert the authorities at the city center's police station. They weren't entirely sure if they'd stumbled upon a mannequin or a corpse floating in the Wupper River.
At around ten in the morning, the police later confirmed their suspicions – discovering a deceased individual underneath the Bismarcksteg pedestrian bridge. Situated between Schlossbleiche and Islandufer, the grim discovery was a chilling reminder of the capriciousness of life.

As of now, police spokesman Alexander Kresta explains that they believe the deceased is a 36-year-old resident of Wuppertal. There's no evidence suggesting the man was involved in any untoward incident.

Given the Wupper's current high water levels and strong current, the Fire Department and DLRG collaborated to recover the body. Utilizing a crane, they managed to extract the deceased individual from the river, over a wall that stood almost six meters tall. Temporarily suspending the suspension railway service, the operation was carried out successfully.
The criminal investigation department has since taken over the investigation.
