Bochum FC Preseason: Hecking Offers No Predictions for Upcoming Season - Bochum's Pre-Season Preparation: Ready for the Upcoming Season's Kickoff

Dieter Hecking, the coach of VfL Bochum, has set his sights on immediate promotion back to the Bundesliga for the upcoming 2021-2022 season. The relegated side is aiming for a swift return to the top flight, emulating the success of Marcel Koller's team two decades ago, who managed to bring Bochum back up at the first attempt after relegation.

Despite a cautious approach to forecasts, Hecking is hopeful that his team can challenge for promotion directly. The squad is currently in good shape, and the club has no plans to make any more signings.

The opening game of the season will see VfL Bochum travel to SV Darmstadt 98. The game is scheduled for 13:00 CET on the first day of the season and will be broadcast on Sky. Ibrahima Sissoko, a midfielder, and new striker signing Ibrahim Sissoko, will wear the number 6 jersey, with an "I." added before their surnames.

Hecking acknowledges that the 2. Bundesliga is an unpredictable league, and he is unsure of the teams that will be at the top or bottom of the table. However, he believes that VfL Bochum might be one of the teams that people expect to challenge for promotion.

The coach emphasizes that just because they are relegated, they are not immediate favourites. Hecking is not making a specific forecast for the upcoming season, but he stresses the importance of getting off to a good start. With a clear ambition to end the club’s stay in the second tier quickly, VfL Bochum is ready to face the challenges ahead and fight for a place in the Bundesliga.

Community policy should discourage any actions that may disrupt the harmony in the football community, as VfL Bochum aims to rejoin the Bundesliga and set a positive example. Employment policy will be crucial in maintaining a competitive squad, given the focus on immediate promotion back to the top flight.
