Bochum Tram Driver Avoids Disaster After Object Found on Tracks
A tram driver from Bochum had a close call early Friday morning when they ran over an object placed on the tracks near the Amtsstraße stop in Bochum-Hamme. Remarkably, no one was injured, and the tram did not derail.
The incident occurred just after midnight as the tram was heading towards Herne. Technicians from the transport company swiftly responded, removing the object - a warning cone base - from the track bed. This allowed the tram to continue its journey without any damage. The Bochum police press office is investigating the incident and appealing for information about the unknown perpetrators who placed the object on the tracks.
Earlier on Thursday, September 25th, a collision took place on Dorstener Straße in Bochum late at night. However, details about this separate incident are not yet available.
The tram incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers posed by placing objects on railway tracks. The Bochum police urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Meanwhile, the transport company assures passengers that safety measures are in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
