1:1 at the Ruhr Stadium: Bochum and Nuremberg barely make progress - Bochum and Nürnberg share spoils in seventh draw for struggling sides
VfL Bochum and 1. FC Nürnberg played out a 1-1 draw in the 2. Bundesliga, extending Bochum's run of draws to seven in their last eight games. Nürnberg missed the chance to claim their first away victory since early November.
Nürnberg took the lead through Mohamed Ali Zoma in the 38th minute, scoring his first away goal of the season. The visitors nearly doubled their advantage, but a VAR intervention ruled out a penalty due to an offside in the build-up.
Bochum equalised in the 72nd minute after Luka Lotschoschwili was penalised for handball. Francis Onyeka converted the spot-kick, levelling the score at 1-1.
The draw kept both sides in a familiar pattern this season. After 21 matchdays, Bochum and Nürnberg have recorded more draws than any other team in the league. While SV Darmstadt 98 has only lost twice, neither side has managed to turn close games into consistent wins.
The stalemate leaves Nürnberg still searching for an away win since November 7. Bochum, on the other hand, continue their habit of sharing the spoils—this being their seventh draw in eight matches. Both teams remain mid-table, with neither able to pull clear in the 2. Bundesliga standings.
