Legendary musician Bob Weir recently took the stage unexpectedly with the Best of All Worlds band, jamming along with Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, and others for a lively rendition of Montrose's Bad Motor Scooter on May 7. 🎶

Hagar's Las Vegas residency with his Van Halen-honoring band, consisting of Satriani, Michael Anthony, and Kenny Aronoff, is ongoing at the Park MGM. Simultaneously, fellow guitar maestro John Mayer and Weir have been making The Sphere their second home during their second residency at the futuristic venue across the city.

Dead & Company have been taking a well-deserved break, with their tour set to resume on May 9. However, Hagar seized the opportunity to bring Weir up on stage to play the Montrose classic. Hagar later shared on Instagram that Weir is "fearless" and always ready to experiment with music of any kind. 🌪️

The clip captures the band rehearsing the track backstage, with Weir strumming a Les Paul. But it's Hagar's iconic Gibson Explorer that he uses to deliver an impromptu, raw-edged, and delightfully improvised solo during their live performance. 💥

Hagar and Weir seem to share a shared love for music and camaraderie. In the past, Weir joined forces with Hagar, Taj Mahal, and REO Speedwagon's Kevin Cronin for a memorable performance at the Acoustic-4-a-Cure concert in 2018. 🤝

During this year's Acoustic-4-a-Cure event, Hagar and Weir reunited, along with Taj Mahal, Michael Anthony, and singer-songwriter Chris Isaak. 🎉

At 77, Hagar prefers the stability of residencies over the exhausting demands of touring city-to-city. Weir's Las Vegas residencies have also gained attention, with John Mayer showcasing Jeff Beck's Custom Strat at select shows and even admiring an off-the-shelf Jerry Garcia Strat replica that he found too enticing to put down. 🎸

In other news, Mayer disclosed the covert location of his amps while battling stage volume restrictions at the venue. During their initial residency, an injury forced him to reassess his playing approach. 🩺

Looking back on their decade-long guitar partnership, Weir expressed that he and Mayer have gained a unique understanding and a kind of "telepathic relationship." 🧠🎵
