BMW Launches Electric SUP: Inflates Automatically, Runs for Hours

BMW has entered the electric water sports scene with its new stand-up paddleboard (SUP), a collaboration with Slovenian company SipaBoards. The BMW x SipaBoards SUP combines innovative features like self-inflation and modular batteries for extended use.

The SUP inflates automatically, eliminating the need for pumps. It measures 3.65 metres in length and 0.82 metres in width, accommodating two riders and weighing 10.9 kg without the motor, or 14.9 kg with it. Power comes from two 90 Wh modular batteries, delivering over three hours of continuous operation. Each pack is easily swappable for longer use.

BMW will introduce 180 Wh batteries in spring 2026, doubling runtime to seven hours. This enhances portability and aligns with BMW's push for scalable energy systems. The SUP is controlled via a Bluetooth-connected carbon-fibre paddle with intuitive controls and safety measures, including automatic power cut-off if it falls into the water. BMW has also developed a full ecosystem of accessories with the 'click & connect' system, allowing quick attachment of gear like speakers, coolers, and waterproof bags.

The BMW x SipaBoards SUP is a premium electric water sports product, blending sustainability, performance, and design. It's BMW's first electric water sports offering, combining quick setup, extended runtime, and a comprehensive accessory ecosystem for adventure enthusiasts.
