Blues trade for Devils' Thomas Bordeleau in midseason roster shakeup
The St. Louis Blues have completed a trade with the New Jersey Devils, acquiring forward Thomas Bordeleau and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. In return, the Devils received veteran forward Nick Bjugstad, who had been with the Blues since last summer.
Thomas Bordeleau, 24, joins the Blues organization after splitting this season between the NHL and AHL. With New Jersey's AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets, he recorded 2 goals and 6 assists in 35 games—a drop from his 38-point performance the previous year. In the NHL, he appeared in 44 games for the Devils, contributing 18 points and 18 penalty minutes. Over his AHL career, spanning 196 games, he has tallied 115 points and 126 penalty minutes.
Bordeleau will now report to the Blues' AHL team, the Springfield Thunderbirds. His arrival follows the departure of Nick Bjugstad, 33, who signed with St. Louis last July. This season, Bjugstad played 35 games for the Blues, registering 7 points and 25 penalty minutes. Across his 15-year NHL career, he has suited up for 795 games, collecting 337 points and 369 penalty minutes.
The trade reshapes both teams' rosters ahead of the season's final stretch. Bordeleau brings youth and offensive potential to the Blues' system, while Bjugstad adds experience to the Devils' lineup. The conditional draft pick adds a future asset to St. Louis' plans.
