Blues snap Hurricanes' momentum with Snuggerud's two-goal surge
The St. Louis Blues secured a 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night. The win extended their point streak to six consecutive games. Jimmy Snuggerud played a key role with two goals in the matchup.
The Hurricanes struck first when Mark Jankowski opened the scoring. His goal ended the Blues' impressive 12-game home point streak, which had seen them go 11-0-1 on their own ice.
Snuggerud levelled the game at 3:53 of the second period with a quick snap shot. Dylan Holloway contributed with two assists, setting up plays that kept the Blues in control. The deadlock lasted until the final period, when Snuggerud struck again at 15:12 to put his team ahead 2-1. Goaltender Jordan Binnington made 31 saves to hold off the Hurricanes' offence. On the opposite end, Brandon Bussi stopped 14 shots but couldn't prevent the loss. Pavel Buchnevich sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the dying moments, making the final score 3-1.
The result keeps the Blues on a strong run, now with points in six straight games. Snuggerud's two-goal performance and Binnington's solid netminding were crucial in the victory. The Hurricanes, meanwhile, will look to regroup after the loss.
