Blues lose top scorer Robert Thomas to injury for two weeks
The St. Louis Blues have moved forward Robert Thomas to injured reserve due to a lower-body injury. The 25-year-old will now undergo a re-evaluation in two weeks. His absence leaves a gap in the team’s offence, where he currently leads with 33 points this season.
Thomas was originally selected by the Blues in the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft, 20th overall. Since then, he has spent his entire eight-year career with the club, appearing in 508 regular-season games. Over that time, he has amassed 429 points, including 118 goals and 311 assists.
This season alone, Thomas has dressed for 42 games, contributing 11 goals and 22 assists. His performance has been a key part of the Blues’ attack under head coach Jim Montgomery. The team will now adjust their line-up while awaiting further updates on his recovery. Montgomery, who recently made headlines for attempting a mid-game goalie substitution against the Chicago Blackhawks, will need to manage without one of his top playmakers for the time being.
The Blues will reassess Thomas’s condition in the coming weeks. His return timeline remains unclear, but the team will rely on other forwards to fill the scoring void. The injury adds to the challenges for a squad already navigating a competitive season.
