Blues' Berggren eyes lineup return as St. Louis hosts Capitals on Tuesday

The St. Louis Blues are preparing to face the Washington Capitals at home on Tuesday evening. The team held a lively morning skate ahead of the 7 p.m. CT matchup, with forward Jonatan Berggren potentially returning to the lineup after recent healthy scratches. Berggren has shown flashes of improvement this season, recording 7 goals and 16 points across 36 games split between St. Louis and Detroit. His recent form includes 5 points in his last 4 outings, despite limited ice time. Key contributions include assists on Pius Suter's goal against Edmonton and in a 3-0 shutout over Washington on March 24, 2026. However, his role has been inconsistent, with a cross-checking penalty on March 6 and occasional healthy scratches.

For Tuesday's game, Berggren is projected to slot onto the third line alongside Otto Stenberg and Dalibor Dvorsky, replacing Jonathan Drouin. The Blues' projected lineup features Dylan Holloway, Robert Thomas, and Jimmy Snuggerud on the first line, while Jake Neighbours, Pavel Buchnevich, and Jordan Kyrou form the second. Alexey Toropchenko, Jack Finley, and Pius Suter round out the fourth line. On defence, the pairings are expected to be Philip Broberg with Logan Mailloux, Theo Lindstein with Colton Parayko, and Cam Fowler with Justin Holl. Joel Hofer is set to start in net for the Blues.

The Blues enter the game with Berggren looking to build on his recent production. His return to the lineup could add depth to the forward group, while the team aims to secure another win against Washington. The puck drops at 7 p.m. CT at Enterprise Center.
