Bloodthirsty gangs slaughter 11 in recent rampages across Sokoto rural communities

In a chilling incident, over a dozen lives were tragically taken in a string of coordinated assaults by ruthless bandits in Sokoto State. The grim news was broken by acclaimed security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in a post on his official X account on May 3.

Makama's post revealed that these attacks unfolded on the evening of May 2, around 7:30 p.m., with the bandits setting their sights on villages within the Gwadabawa and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas.

Beginning in the Satiru Village, the assailants ruthlessly claimed five lives before moving on to Kunkurus Village, where they took one more life. Their brutal rampage culminated in the Shadawa community of Sabon Birni LGA, where they callously ended the lives of five more victims, bringing the total to an appalling eleven casualties.

Following these heinous attacks, troops from Operation FANSAN YANMA, in unison with forces from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Sokoto Community Guards, were swiftly deployed to the affected regions. Unfortunately, by the time they arrived, the bandits had already fled the scene. Nonetheless, the security forces have now embarked on an intensive manhunt to apprehend those responsible for the bloodshed.

These horrific events serve as another grim reminder of the ongoing threat that bandits continue to pose in several communities across the region. It's essential that our security forces continue to remain vigilant and relentless in their pursuit of these criminals to ensure their eventual capture and a safer future for all.
