Bloc Discussion Scheduled at Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's Residence on August 7; Election Manipulation Likely to Take CenterStage in Discussions
In a bold move, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of failing to act against alleged voter fraud in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. During a recent gathering at the party's annual legal conclave titled 'Constitutional Challenges - Perspectives & Pathways', Gandhi claimed that the election system in India is "already dead" and the recent elections were "rigged".
Gandhi's assertions were based on a six-month-long investigation conducted by the Congress party, which revealed the presence of 1.5 lakh fake voters in one constituency in Karnataka. This constituency, Bangalore Central Lok Sabha seat, has a total voter count of about 6.5 lakh. According to Gandhi, the ruling BJP's narrow majority hinged on such rigging, and had 15 to 20 seats been free of fraud, Narendra Modi would not be Prime Minister.
Gandhi further alleged that the ECI, as a protector of democracy, has "disappeared" or been "obliterated", allowing or enabling this manipulation. He mentioned the alleged addition of 45 lakh voters in Maharashtra and the voting of 70 lakh voters at the last hour as burning issues that need to be addressed.
The Congress leader's allegations have not been met with a direct response from the Election Commission of India as of August 2025. The search results do not provide any official statement or rebuttal from the ECI regarding these claims.
Other leaders, such as Farooq Abdullah from the National Conference and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi, have also raised concerns about voter manipulation, Operation Sindoor, and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar during the ongoing Parliament monsoon session.
The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) will meet over dinner at Rahul Gandhi's residence on August 7. This meeting will see the attendance of Farooq Abdullah, along with other leaders such as Sharad Pawar, Tejashwi Yadav, Omar Abdullah, Hemant Soren, and Uddhav Thackeray. The agenda for the meeting has not been disclosed yet.
The article does not contain any new information about the SPICEJET employees assault incident or Uttar Pradesh incident involving CM Yogi Adityanath.
