Blizzard chaos in Bremen as truck crash shuts down A1 motorway overnight
A heavy snowstorm struck Bremen and nearby regions overnight, bringing blizzard conditions and severe disruption. Roads became treacherous, leading to multiple accidents on major motorways as drivers struggled with icy surfaces and poor visibility.
The A1 motorway saw some of the worst incidents. At Bremer Kreuz interchange, a 40-ton truck skidded out of control, smashing into the noise barrier. The crash caused significant damage and forced the closure of the A1 for several hours. The truck driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The storm left a trail of disruption across Bremen’s motorways, with the A1 bearing the brunt of the damage. While most injuries were minor, the closures and accidents caused long delays for early-morning travellers. Authorities have urged drivers to take extra caution as conditions remain difficult.
