Blizzard Alert in Nizhny Novgorod as Storm Brings Heavy Snow and Dangerous Winds

A severe blizzard is set to hit the Nizhny Novgorod region on December 13. Authorities have warned residents of heavy snow, icy roads and powerful winds gusting up to 20 metres per second. The storm follows an earlier snowfall in mid-November, marking the second major winter event of the season.

The Russian Emergency and Rescue Service has issued safety guidance ahead of the storm. People are urged to avoid downed power lines, weakened trees and unstable buildings. Drivers should reduce speed, keep a greater distance from other vehicles and brake gently to prevent skidding.

The blizzard will bring hazardous travel conditions and a sharp temperature drop. Residents are advised to follow safety measures and prepare for possible disruptions. The warning remains in effect until the storm passes.
