Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne's life during his final years will be showcased in an upcoming documentary, titled "Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home," to be aired by the BBC this month.
On Monday, 18 August 2025, the BBC will air the highly anticipated documentary "Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home" on BBC One at 9 pm UK time. The documentary will also be available on the BBC iPlayer streaming service from the same date and time.
The 60-minute film offers an intimate glimpse into the life of the legendary rockstar and his family as they prepare for his final-ever concert, "Back To The Beginning," which was held in his hometown of Birmingham on July 5 this year.
Clare Sillery, BBC Head Of Commissioning, Documentaries, comments, "This documentary captures an intimate glimpse into the family's journey as they prepare to return to the UK. It's a moving and inspirational account of the last chapter of Ozzy's life."
The documentary features never-before-seen footage of Ozzy Osbourne's family, including his wife/manager Sharon, and two of their children, Kelly and Jack. The film showcases family moments, humor, reflection, and the enduring spirit that made Ozzy Osbourne a global icon.
However, the documentary does not include footage of Ozzy Osbourne's final concert. The series was initially commissioned as a series in 2022, but evolved into a one-hour film due to Ozzy Osbourne's health problems. In 2023, Ozzy retired from touring as a result of his health issues.
The documentary follows Ozzy Osbourne as he moves back home to the UK from America. Tens of thousands of fans gathered to say farewell to Ozzy as his cortege made its way down Broad Street in Birmingham. The procession passed over the famous 'Black Sabbath Bridge' in Birmingham en route.
Before his death on July 22, Ozzy Osbourne reunited onstage with his fellow Black Sabbath co-founders for their final show together at "Back To The Beginning" 17 days before his passing. The cause of his death was cardiac arrest.
Ozzy Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2020, but he continued to work and perform until his retirement in 2023. His private funeral was held on July 30.
"Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home" is promoted as "the moving and inspirational account of the last chapter of Ozzy's life." It promises to be a poignant and insightful look into the life of one of rock music's most iconic figures.
